Jalpaiguri is a city in the West Bengal state of India. It is the administrative centre of the Jalpaiguri district and the Jalpaiguri division of West Bengal, which encompasses the five districts of North Bengal. Traditional handicrafts, particularly cane and bamboo crafts, are well-known in Jalpaiguri. Wall hangings, jute and wooden artworks, and other traditionally produced Jewellery are some of the other things you may bring back as mementos and presents.

Dooars Jalpaiguri

The Dooars, also known as the Duars, are alluvial floodplains in northeastern India that are south of the Himalayan outer foothills and north of the Brahmaputra River basin. This area is around 30 kilometres broad and 350 kilometres long, stretching from the Teesta River in West Bengal to the Dhanshiri River in Assam. The area serves as a gateway to Bhutan. It is part of the ecoregion of the Terai-Duar savanna and grasslands. In Assamese, Bengali, Maithili, Bhojpuri, and Magahi, dooars means “doors.” Between the highlands of Bhutan and the plains of India, there are 18 passes or gates. The Sankosh River divides this territory into Eastern and Western Dooars, which have an area of 880 km2. The Western Dooars are sometimes referred to as the Bengal Dooars, whereas the Eastern Dooars are referred to as the Assam Dooars.

Gorumara National Park

Gorumara National Park is located in northern West Bengal, India. It is a medium-sized park with grasslands and woodlands located in the =Dooars area of the Himalayan foothills. It is best known for its Indian rhinoceros population. The Ministry of Environment and Forests has named the park the finest among India’s protected places.

Panjhora River Jalpaiguri

Panjhora is situated on the banks of the great MURTI river. The Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary is only a handshake away. It’s a passage for elephants.
